Visakha Hari Musical Discourse


Vishaka Hari is an Indian musician from Chennai. She is a practitioner of the age-old art form of Kathakalakshepam, the art of story telling, weaving together music in a concert-discourse format. The stories are usually of a devotional nature depicting scenes from great Hindu epics like Ramayana, the accompanying songs often are set to music by great music composers and spiritual teachers who are often the authors of the stories being narrated. She was presented with the "Vasantha Shresht" award by the Vasantha Memorial Trust, an organisation working in the area of cancer care and cure, in October 2007.

Vishaka Hari is the daughter-in-law of Paranur Mahatma Sri Sri Krishna Premi swamigal, who is also her spiritual Guru. She is the wife of Shri. Hariji, who is an expert in delivering vedantic and bhagavatham lectures. She married Shri. Hariji in Paranur in 2001 at the age of 22. She learnt carnatic music from Padma Vibhushan Shri.Lalgudi G. Jayaraman.

Smt. Vishaka Hari is an accomplished A-grade artist of All India Radio with number of honours to her name, including coveted titles like Thyagaraja Prathidwani and Yuva kala Bharathi. She also enjoyed an outstanding academic career in Accounting.

Sri.Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna - Live in concert


Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna is a Carnatic vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and a playback singer. He is also acclaimed as a poet, composer and respected for his knowledge of Carnatic Music.


Balamuralikrishna started his career at a very young age. Till date, he has given over 25000 concerts worldwide!


His immense versatility in all the fields of music, his mesmerizing voice, his unique way of rendering the compositions helped him to carve out a niche in the Music era. He collaborated with the top musicians in the Hindustani circle and is known to be the first to start the jugulbandi type of concerts. The first of such kind was in Mumbai, where he accompanied Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. He also gave jugalbandi concerts with Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and Kishori Amonkar, among others. These concerts made him popular throughout the country and also helped in national integration through music.


Poet composer and musicologist, Balamuralikrishna has restored the trinity's composition to their original whole. He represents a new era in Carnatic music. Like the galaxy of giants preceding him, he has helped in the preservation of the musical heritage in his own way. He is also known for popularising the Compositions of Sri Bhadrachala Ramadasa and Sri Annamacharya.

Chimeras - Play



The play 'Chimeras' is an adaptation of three short stories by Shashi Deshpande, namely, 'What has been decided?', "The Last Enemy" and 'Hear me, Sanjaya', which reflect the characters of Draupadi, Duryodhana and Kunti respectively. "Chimeras is an attempt to bring to stage the strong human aspects of these characters, striping them of the myth surrounding them, with such nuances of their existence that it makes one connect and 'understand' them as people," says actor Surabhi Herur, who dons the role of Draupadi in this play.

The play is being produced by Version One Dot Oh! (VODO), an amateur theatre group based in Bangalore consisting of members from various backgrounds who share a common passion for theatre. Members of the group include IT professionals, Students, Media Professionals, TV artistes, Lawyers. It was started in 2003 by a bunch of college friends who did not want their college-theatre passion to die down. "The play 'What has been decided' is set just before the war breaks out, when Draupadi questions the intentions of 'avoiding' the war or going for it, while the play 'The Last Enemy' is set at the end of the war, when Duryodhana is left alone and wounded but not defeated. The play 'Hear me, Sanjaya' is set after the war, when Kunti recollects the events and the people who have shaped her life and the war," explains Surabhi, who has been into theatre for the last twelve years.

Silent Theatre Laboratory Presents its first play 'Susmitha & Nestlings'

About play: The Silent Theatre Laboratory presents the first production of its 2011 - 2012 season, Poornachandra Tejesvi's Susmitha & Nestlings, directed by Vidya V Ulithaya (Clutter: Based on True Story of the Poornachandra Tejesvi) Susmith & Nestlings is 90 mins play, will be staged on Thursday and Friday, April 14th at & 15th At 7:00pm in K.H. Kalasoudha, Behind Abminaya Taranga/Bimba Hanumanth and inside the compound of Ramanjaneya Temple.

Through this play we want to show the Tejesvi's experiences about the nature(Aquatics, Reptiles, birds & mammals) this play is specially designed for kids above 5 years, In this play there is use of mime, bale, Kalari, this play would be a platform for the kids to learn the nature's complications. Silent theatre laboratory (STL) was created for the sole purpose of setting a standard of professionalism, creativity and excellence in the performing arts.

Susmitha & Nestlings (translation of K. P.Poornachandra Tejesvi's 'Susmitha Mattu Hakkimari') play is a major part of this initiative. Susmitha & Nestlings is a vibrant, entertaining, and fun family play that carries with it a positive message of community building and cultural diversity.

For the first time in India STL is adopting a mime, bale, kalari into the talky stage play. Mime Influenced by the silent film stars like Chaplin and Keaton, Marceau who was the architect of a totally new style and tradition, the true creator and master of modern mime as we understand it today.

Shankar Mahadevan - Live in concert



Music and Shankar Mahadevan are synonymous. The former engineering graduate-turned singer is well versed in Hindustani, Carnatic and Jazz music. With hard work and talent, he created music that made both critics and music buffs take notice of him. Music is in his blood - after all, he has been learning music since the age of three.


His first album Breathless took the music world by storm and became a chartbuster. However, he soon turned his attention to film music as he felt that he could project his true talents and get the recognition he deserved.


When he was composing music for a number of jingles, he met Ehsaan and Loy. The trio went on to compose for a number of super hit films including Mission Kashmir, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Lakshya, Abhay and of course, the mega hit Dil Chahta Ha. The trio composed hit after hit, redefining the art of composing for movies.


Mahadevan has created a unique niche for himself in the world of Bollywood music and is well on his way to making a lasting impression in the world of music.
